Short introduction
Born in the Black Forest, Martin Schlecht has always been interested in the interrelation and interdependencies of cities and rural areas. After his civil service in the USA he studied Geography and Communication Science at the University of Vienna and the Istanbul Üniversitesi (2004-09). In his Masters programs in Urban Ecology (TU Berlin) and Political Communication (FU Berlin) he focused on urban food production and the contamination of urban soils through trace metals, as well as political participation in municipal energy supply. Previously, Martin worked in international cooperation in the fields of governance, rural development and human rights in Sub Saharan Africa. Martin has led several international projects on energy, nutrition and local business development. Besides his work at TU, Martin is engaged in wilderness pedagogy and offers toxicology consultations in medicine.
