Real Deal stands for Reshaping European Advances Towards green Leadership Through Deliberative Approaches and Learning. With the Green Deal, the EU wants to transform into the first climate-neutral region by 2050. Citizens should be actively involved in this process. So far, this has not been the case in many European institutions nor in all EU countries. Therefore, the question arises: Which participation formats are suitable on a pan-European level within the framework of the Green Deal? It is therefore necessary to review the existing methods, formats and tools, to analyse their suitability for different country contexts and to develop innovative formats. These are to be evaluated on the basis of criteria yet to be developed in the project. In addition, a stakeholder network will be established and mobilized (European Civil Society Forum). In 13 countries (10 EU and 3 non-EU) and on an online platform, the formats will be tested. In this way, a theoretical basis for better citizen participation in Europe will be laid, which will ultimately lead to recommendations to the EU.
